Phew! I've just glanced at my last blog entry, and it really was a busy time we had in Israel! Only the last day was anything remotely resembling a lazy late-summer holiday - but oh man am I glad we had that day! The weather since I've been back in Munich has fluctuated between shite and dire. We had the first proper snow of the winter at the weekend, but it's been sleety and windy and horrible for quite a while now. A far cry from the flour-fine sand and 40° heat of Tel Aviv!
But in spite of the weather conditions I've been out & about quite a bit in the last fortnight. The fun started on the day we got back from Israel, when Christian & I headed over to the Auer Dult, a market that runs three times a year just down the hill from my flat. It was FREEEEEEEZING! But it was one of those lovely crisp autumn days; the weather got worse as the week progressed.
The week was a relaxed one at work, what with 1st November beng a bank holiday. I brought a whole load of cheese in one afternoon and we ate it accompanied by a bottle of prosecco that Christina brought in.
On Friday night I went to see Mika in concert with Michaela, Lisa & Karen. He was a whole lot better than I was expecting! A very similar sound to the Scissor Sisters, but perhaps aiming at a slightly more teenybopper crowd. His stage show was most entertaining, with huge balloons bouncing around the gig-goers.
Saturday was double amounts of fun: I had brunch at Petar & Fadil's house, and I had dinner (okay it was snacks accompanying wine - good enough!) at Lorna's, where we finally got round to watching an Argentinean film that she bought months ago when she was in Spain. It was really tiring listening to all that Spanish!! (Or perhaps it was the wine...)
The following week was busy too: on Tuesday I had dinner at Tom's favourite Italian with Tom, Walter & Fritz; we whetted our appetites by starting to move the furniture out of Walter's flat round the corner from me. Then on Wednesday I had a glass or two of wine with Martine, just before she heads back to live in Ireland. Thursday saw me presented with a sudden dinner invititation from Gabi at work (she also lives close to me) which turned out to be a great laugh - and a delicious meal too. And then on Friday I took Ryan to see a Queen Tribute band at Circus Krone, before bringing him back to Tim's flat and meeting Veronika for the first time.
Then at the weekend I helped Walter with the rest of his move on Saturday morning, and was rewarded with a monster dinner of gammon & mash, Austrian style, just like my mama used to make. The copious amounts of beer & brandy put paid to any plans for meaningful anything for the afternoon! And then Sunday turned out to be a horrible windy wet day which I spent doing next to nothing as well. Yin and yang.
The snow that arrived in the night from Sunday to Monday has started to put me in the mood for a spot of skiing, I must say! Let's see when I get round to heading into the mountains again...
