What is Rich up to?

15 June 2007

Oh bloody hell! It's been a month since my last update! Oops!

Okay, just quickly then: the weather in Munich has been mostly hot and fabulous. I've actually not been abroad - or even elsewhere in Germany - in all this time. Whoa! Thankfully I'm on a plane to Berlin tomorrow, else I might forget how to use airports...

It was my 34th birthday a few weeks ago, which I celebrated in style in the Nockherberg beer garden round the corner from my flat. Lots of friends came and helped me get extremely drunk (six litres of beer in an afternoon/evening isn't bad going, methinks), both there & then and in the future, inasmuch as the consensus birthday gift was wine.

I've been busy eating and drinking at various locations around Munich. Including a wedding at a posh hotel in the Luitpoldpark, just north of the centre of town. I went there with Oliver and we got there just in time to dash for cover as a huge hailstorm pelted down! This was not a good omen for an outdoor wedding!! But then, just as suddenly as it had come, the storm passed - ten minutes before the ceremony was due to begin. So it was a good omen after all.

Whilst I haven't travelled in the last month, I have gone ahead and arranged lots of travel for the future: in particular I will be flying to the southern end of Egypt next Thursday with Tom, Fritz & Christian for a week's diving in the Red Sea. The best thing is, we'll be staying aboard the boat the whole week, which means we'll be able to reach coral reefs beyond the range of the day-trippers. We're going to have stacks of nature all to ourselves!!

In other news, Sam & Justin have had their second daughter, Maisie. Congratulations are in order!! And big hugs too!! And there have been a few birthdays too: first Lorna and then Trixi. Ladies who know how to host parties - yay!

D'you know what, folks? That kind of covers it! Give or take a bicycle ride here or a mound of sushi there, my month in brief has thus been described.

I'll regale you all with tales of fish & ships when next I write. Until then, be excellent to each other.
