Sorry people, I'm just not finding the time to write proper entries at the moment. Just a quick update again here:
I was in Catalonia - yay!! I stayed with my friend Olga (who's a soprano - check out her website http://www.olgamiracle.com ) in Barcelona. Ah, what a city! Ah, what coffee! And what croissants! The weather couldn't have been better all weekend, and I managed to remember how to speak Catalan eventually, albeit with a big fat headache (or was that the wine?)
And then I stayed with my friends Carles & Maica (check out Carles' website http://www.h2oservices.es - English version coming soon) up the Costa Brava at L'Escala, from where we did loads of fab trips along the coast and had lots of amazing gastronomic experiences, including the best paella in my life ever. Many many MANY photos to follow...
My friends Nea & Otto (Finns now living in London) popped over and I had the chance to repay some of their huge hospitality from when I went to see them in Tampere last August. And they got to taste Starkbier, which is the lenten tipple of choice in Munich - especially with this sunny weather.
I threw a big cheese party in my flat (ah! the beautiful hubbub of a roomful of people eating, drinking and being merry! truly music to my ears) and we managed to eat about fifteen tonnes of the stuff.
My mate Rich was over from New York, and we hit that old favourite of mine down near the river, Lucullus, to eat splendid Greek fare in good company. In a similar vein, I ate mounds of roast pork (replete with acres of tasty crackling) at various locations around Munich with various people - my main partner in crackling-crime being Phil.
I saw Thunder play live at KunstParkOst with Phil & Michaela. What a top gig! And we were most amused by the shorter, fatter versions of myself & Phil that were stood just in front of us in the crowd...
I went to the theatre - for the first time here in Germany - to see Bollywood: The Musical with my friend Jean-François. We had seats right at the front, and were treated to all the glitz and glamour of the world of Indian escapist cinema. It was truly a feast for the senses.
Right, that'll have to do. I'm actually rather busy at work at the moment, believe it or not. And at least this blog entry is a little more detailed than the last. I promise I'll write at length about the fun I had in France and Spain soon. But it might not be before my trip to Switzerland this weekend...
