Oh Man!? Has it been a week already since my last one of these? Okay, here goes:
Luckily, my original plan to go to Pamplona for the week got knocked on the head when Pascale & Pepe instead spent the week in Toulouse, where Pascale had to sit some exams. I say luckily, because otherwise I wouldn't have got to spend a few more days with Ches. The best thing was that we managed to catch up with a few people I haven't seen in almost ten years - Marcos & Txente - as well as meeting a few new people - Nacho's work friend Sole for instance. And generally enjoying Cantabria too, with walks along headlands, up hills and through beautiful green flowing scenery (the last in Txente's huge garden!).
Then on Friday I made my way to Pamplona on the bus to experience the San Fermin festival, best known by foreigners for the bull running and best known by Spaniards for the thousands of drunk foreigners running. I am sat at Pepe's PC writing this, having just watched the spectacular Last Night's fireworks display.
Sadly, Pascale couldn't be here (she had to visit family in France) but to be honest, it would have been a bit weird for her to be here for Pepe's stag do anyway! Pepe's brother Eduardo spent the long weekend here too. What a great guy he is! Just like his brother in that and many other respects!
Probably the nicest thing about San Fermin has been the nightly fireworks. On Saturday night, watching them from the comfort of Pepe's 6th floor flat, there were these ones that exploded two big circles of stuff out, the outer one going much faster than the inner one, and I got the impression someone was casting a multicoloured net over my head! It was quite hypnotic. There were many many other splendid varieties of pyrotechnics; it's truly amazing what people manage to achieve in terms of effects!
Enough! It's late and I haven't even packed my bag yet for tomorrow's flight home.
